CERN Heavy Ion Run

Live from CERN Control Centre

The first heavy-ion run of the LHC Run3 just came to an end.

It was an important moment for CERN physicists but also for the radiation testing community, as HEARTS is upgrading the CHARM facility to become a prime heavy-ion testing facility for space applications open to external users.

On 2 November 2023, Rubén García Alía, HEARTS project coordinator, answered during a live Q&A and explained why heavy ion testing matters. Representatives from the four largest CERN LHC experiments were also present.
